December 2010 Merry Christmas

Hello everyone hope all is well.

The tree is up with all its lights and do-dads.  For the last few years we have decorated the tree purple and gold for LSU, everything purple and gold.  My friend Lisa and I went shopping one day.   We went by the Mustard Seed in Calhoun, this is where I found my first of 2 special ornaments this year.  You know how people say that Less Miles is the "Mad Hatter"?  Well I found the perfect tree topper, see below.

If you go there expecting to get one of these you are out of luck.  I bought the last one right off of her tree.  The last time I was in there she said she could not get any more so I was very glad I talked her into selling me this one.  The Mustard Seed is a very cute little shop, she seems to specialize in all sorts of do-dads, jewelry, some West Ouachita fan stuff, just about anything you can think of.  Y'all need to stop by, its on hwy 80 near Johnny's in Calhoun.

This is the full tree decorated in big and sparkly purple and gold, I like big and sparkly.  If you will notice the garland above the window, yes I made that.  It only took a few pipe cleaners, wood vines, netting, extra ornaments.  Mom and I went to the woods and cut some vines, she used hers for a Christmas Wreath.  I used mine for garland, the netting was attached with pipe cleaners and the same pipe cleaners were used to hang extra ornaments and Christmas cards.

The other special ornament is shown below, it is a purple bird I got at Pier 1.  John and I took off last Wednesday to finish up our Christmas Shopping, he described Pier 1 as a  nick-knack nightmare..lol  I don't think I will be able to get him back in there..

Purple Bird with lots of feathers.

Allen is gone for the weekend, John and Cody are hunting, Alecia and Chris are having Christmas with her mom this weekend so I'm left on my own at least for today.  I have been wanting to do some Christmas cooking and just haven't had the time so today is a good day to get most of it out of the way.  I plan on making peanut butter fudge, peanut butter balls, truffles and icebox cookies.

Well my kitchen is a mess but I think I'm going to rest for awhile.  John and Cody just got home and is wondering what there is to eat.  I told them to just eat a sandwich cause I am tired.  Well more later.  Have a Merry Christmas and a very Happy and Safe New Year.

Thanksgiving 2010

Well I never really thought of myself as a blogger but thought I would give it a try.  I titled this blog Thanksgiving only because it is Thanksgiving, original right..lol.
My family decided to get together on Friday this year, so I spent Thanksgiving day cooking for my family and John's family who planned to get together on Saturday.

On Friday I got to spend time with my niece who has a set of twins that are one and a new baby.

On Saturday we went to John's family on Lake Darbonne in Farmerville.  Alecia, our daughter who just got married and her husband Chris, were able to come.  In the back of my mind I thought this would be a good time to try and get a family picture done for our Christmas card this year.  This is what I came up with.  I'll call it the Crazy Goodwin kids.

Merry Christmas from the Crazy Goodwin Clan

Any way I think this will make a great card.

Pawpaw Goodwin has a stand of pine trees in his back yard.  I happened upon a full fledge pine cone war so glad I had my camera at the time.
 Cody checking out the damage
Alecia always wants to have fun, as long as she doesn't get to dirty..lol
Chris the new addition to our little family, I think God made the perfect choice for her.
Allen fixing to ambush somebody

All in all we had a great Thanksgiving, I just love having all my kids together.  Well guess that is all I have for now.
